Glaspost was started in April 2003 by Margriet Schoenmakers and Hein van de Water. The goal of Glaspost is to promote information about exploring glass. Glaspost addresses not only the trade but also the glass art. Glaspost tries to reach this goal in two ways. One way is through knowledge about the various glass techniques, in the most extensive form, and to make this information available to everyone that is concerned with glass in any way. The other way is by promoting the glass art and the glass trade to the larger public.

Transferring the knowledge to the glassworker and glass artist is organized by offering professional workshops and seminars as well as through the sale of books and other information sources about glass, glass art and glass techniques. These are mostly specialist books and information sources quite often small editions, that are hardly ever found in the normal bookstore sale. With contacts throughout the glass world, Glaspost knows how and where to find these books and via their website - www.glaspost.com - and various fairs they can then be bought by everyone who is interested in them. Glaspost buys new, second hand and antiquarische glass books - as well as from personal collections - and fills in gaps by publishing glass books themselves. Via booksearch service, Glaspost offers the possibility of requesting a search for a specific book. Requests, tasks for the booksearch service or suggestions for good glass books that are still missing from the collection, can be directed to glaspost@glaspost.com.

The promotion of the glass art is taken seriously by the organization of glass art exhibits. By bringing Glass artists and galleries together, Glaspost hopes to bring more attention to Glass Art. Lectures, excursions and trips are also organized.
